Roshni Abhiyan

People in rural India are often seen as uneducated, poor, vulnerable and destitute. This is the image we want to change. Through this programme we aim to empower rural people, especially women so that they can take back their own agency.

ROSHNI ABHIYAN primarily deals with imparting basic education and life skills to women in rural Bihar.
Our areas of focus will be on- Basic Math, Language (Hindi and regional commercial language), basic Life Skills such as First Aid, preventive health care and practices, awareness about cleanliness and hygiene such as clean drinking water, menstrual awareness, pregnancy related information as well as social awareness such as usage of internet, issues related to child marriage, gender based violence, importance of good parenting, etc. We will also focus on political awareness such as basic understanding of Panchayat, elections and accountability. Apart from this, we will also impart useful information about farming, traveling, legal rights, basic information about administrative paperwork like how to file a report at police station, how to open bank account, etc.

With this programme, we hope to create awareness and basic education among women so that they not only empower themselves but also contribute to the next generation as well as improve living standards of their entire families and in turn, the entire village.
